Major Gifts & Partnerships

Major gifts and partnerships

Major gifts & partnerships

Freedom exists because forced marriage, female genital mutilation and abuse carried out in the name of so-called honour can stay hidden until the harm is already done. Since 2009, we have worked to help people recognise risk earlier, give professionals practical tools and bring these issues into the open. A major gift can help Freedom reach more young people, strengthen safeguarding and equip professionals to act sooner. For each substantial gift, we would agree the purpose, full costs, milestones and reporting with the funding partner.

Why Freedom

We are not starting from scratch. Freedom has been doing this work since 2009. The Freedom App has been downloaded more than 250,000 times and more than 100,000 books have been donated for education and prevention. Our Evidence & Impact page links to independent records and external recognition so prospective supporters can check the claims for themselves.

Specialist knowledge

Forced marriage, FGM and Dishonour Abuse are not side issues for us. They are the reason Freedom exists.

Practical reach

Our work includes safeguarding information, professional training, books, public awareness, technology and routes to help.

Responsible stewardship

Each substantial proposal sets out the staffing, safeguarding, costs, evidence, oversight and reporting needed before commitments are made.

What we want to change

We want people at risk to find reliable information earlier, professionals to recognise and respond to risk safely, schools and communities to have stronger prevention resources, and Freedom to build better evidence about what its work reaches and changes.

What substantial funding could support

Protect people at risk

Strengthen practical routes to help and reliable safeguarding information for people facing forced marriage, FGM and related abuse.

Prevent abuse earlier

Help more people recognise coercion, harmful practices and warning signs before abuse escalates.

Strengthen professional response

Equip police, health, social care, education and other frontline professionals to recognise risk and respond safely.

Change systems

Support evidence, policy, public understanding and work that improves how forced marriage, FGM and Dishonour Abuse are recognised and addressed.

Technology and reach

Improve digital safeguarding information and tools, with safety and privacy built into their design.

Unrestricted funding

Unrestricted support gives Freedom the flexibility to strengthen the organisation, respond to need and invest where it can have the greatest effect.

A substantial proposal would go beyond these headings. Before funding is accepted, the proposal would set out the current position, proposed work, staffing and capacity required, full cost, timetable, measurable milestones, material risks and reporting arrangements. The proposal should explain how progress will be measured and what the available evidence can show.

Due diligence

Prospective major funders can ask for the information they need to assess a proposal responsibly. Depending on the request, this may include current governance information, filed accounts and financial context, safeguarding arrangements, delivery capacity, risk, data protection, technology, measurement and reporting. Public records are linked where available; for non-public information, use the funding enquiry form and state what your due-diligence process requires.

Governance & Due Diligence

Evidence first

Freedom’s Evidence & Impact page separates our own reported reach from independent records and external validation. It brings together charity registration, recognised education resources, public records, awards and the services Freedom delivers directly.

A partnership built to last

We welcome substantial support that helps Freedom extend its safeguarding and prevention work. For each major gift or partnership, we would agree a clear proposal covering the work to be delivered, the resources required, milestones and appropriate reporting.

Trustees would oversee significant commitments, with growth planned around safeguarding, delivery capacity and the charity’s long-term responsibilities. Financial and governance information can be discussed directly with prospective funders as part of appropriate due diligence.

Start a funding conversation

We welcome conversations with individuals, families, companies, trusts and foundations thinking about serious support. You can back a particular area of work, explore a partnership or give Freedom the flexibility to use funding where it is most needed. Enquiries about substantial funding can be directed to Aneeta Prem MBE, Founder and President of Freedom Charity.
