National Volunteers Week

Volunteers help Freedom Charity reach further

National Volunteers Week is an opportunity to recognise the people who give their time to support Freedom Charity’s work on forced marriage, female genital mutilation (FGM) and Dishonour Abuse.

Freedom combines prevention, safeguarding information, education, awareness and routes to help. Its specialist helpline provides information and support, while the Freedom App, school resources, books and professional training help people recognise risk and find reliable information earlier.

Education and prevention

Volunteers and supporters help Freedom take safeguarding messages into communities, schools and professional settings. Freedom has donated more than 100,000 books to support education and prevention, including But It’s Not Fair and Cut Flowers. Separate forced-marriage and FGM lesson resources developed with Freedom have received the PSHE Association Quality Mark.

Supporting change

Freedom has campaigned for legal and policy change on forced marriage and harmful practices including virginity testing and hymenoplasty, alongside its practical safeguarding and education work.

How to help

You can support Freedom by volunteering, fundraising, making a donation, buying the Red Triangle badge or purchasing the charity’s safeguarding books.
