What is Giving Tuesday?
Giving Tuesday is a global day of giving that takes place every year after Black Friday and Cyber Monday. It’s a time to focus on generosity and making a difference. Unlike shopping days that prioritise buying, Giving Tuesday is all about giving back to communities and causes that matter.
For Freedom Charity, this day is an opportunity to raise the critical funds we need to protect women and girls in the UK from forced marriage, female genital mutilation (FGM), and dishonour-based abuse. These hidden crimes destroy lives, but your generosity can help stop them.
How Does Freedom Charity Save Lives?
Freedom Charity works to prevent forced marriage, FGM and related abuse through education, safeguarding and routes to support. Donations help fund this work:
- Helpline Support
Freedom Charity provides a specialist helpline and safeguarding information for people affected by forced marriage, FGM and Dishonour Abuse. If the helpline is not answered, use the statutory or specialist services listed on Freedom Charity’s current helpline page. If someone is in immediate danger, call 999. - Educational Resources
Our books, But It’s Not Fair and Cut Flowers, can be used alongside Freedom’s forced-marriage and FGM lesson packs developed with the PSHE Association. These resources educate young people about forced marriage and FGM, helping them recognise and challenge harmful practices. - Workshops and Training
We deliver workshops in schools and train frontline professionals like teachers and social workers. These sessions equip communities with the tools to prevent abuse and support those at risk. - Emergency Rescue
We intervene to rescue those in immediate danger in collaboration with police and social services. Survivors are provided with safe accommodation and ongoing support

- Advocacy and Legal Reform
